Western valleys

We leave behind the leafless beech trees that doze in the mist. As a reward obtained after a tour marked by snowfall and wind, the clouds bare the north face of the Sierra de los Alanos.

This small mountain range, modest in height but wide in natural beauty, appears lonely and rugged. A stronghold of peace and wild surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of the most characteristic ski slopes of the central Pyrenean valleys.

From its slender figure and marked by two U-shaped passes, the Achar de Alano peak inspires us with a dolomitic landscape.

Recent fallen snow overlaps with remaining snowfields. We can not find the right conditions to perform nice descents at this altitude, the rocks stand out in most areas and we give up so as not to spoil the skis.

At this point, we enjoy the ride back through the forest. Collected in the depths of the valley, it makes the snow to stay better settled. This way, the powder is protected from the wind so we can enjoy some gentle twists among the beech trees.

The waters of the Veral River gently bid farewell to our traverse, ending the day in one of the most unique corners around these mountains.
